Weekend Warriors

The program operates year-round and is designed to positively and vigorously engage strategically selected individuals during Chicago’s volatile weekends.  

Program participants are enrolled as full-time City Colleges students and offered behavioral health therapy, individual case management, and weekly stipends. Program completion bestows upon participants an Advanced Certification in Industrial Welding, other college credits, and career support from City Colleges of Chicago.

Research Questions

• To what extent is the program successful in meeting or exceeding key performance measures?  
• Is enrollment in the WWP associated with better education and career trajectories, including enrollment, retention, and completion in post-secondary higher education and/or workforce training programs and with career and job placement outcomes?
• Do Weekend Warriors participants show improvements over time in academic and professional skills, education and career aspirations, and subsequent criminal legal system involvement?
