Durrell Malik Washington Sr

Durrell Malik Washington Sr. is a Second Year Ph.D. student at the University of Chicago School of Social Work, Policy and Practice. His research interest lies at the Intersections between Neighborhoods, Networks, Juvenile Justice, Families and Abolition. Durrell also has interest in using Mixed- Method approaches to understand patterns of incarceration and the ways in which incarceration impacts different social context. Durrell is a graduate assistant with the Human Rights Lab at the Pozen Family Center for Human Rights. Durrell is a native New Yorker and received his master’s in Social Work from Columbia University in 2018.

Featured Projects

Currently, our research focuses primarily on gun violence prevention and community violence intervention (CVI), policing practices, and public safety, and we are expanding into other areas that effect neighborhood health and well-being.
