Street Outreach Analytics Response (SOAR)

The Street Outreach Analytics Response (SOAR) project aims to integrate the science of networks into the practice of street outreach. N3 is partnering with community gun violence prevention organizations on Chicago’s South and West sides to assist violence preventionists in their rapid response to gun violence. This initiative leverages our expertise in network analytics to collaboratively develop resources that bolster street outreach workers’ capacity to reach those at risk for experiencing violence.

This initiative leverages our expertise in network analytics to collaboratively develop resources that bolster street outreach workers’ capacity to reach those at risk for experiencing violence.

The external evaluation of this initiative, conducted in partnership with researchers at the University of Pennsylvania, New York University, and University of Michigan will focus on two key research questions:

1. Can the integration of network analytics into violence intervention efforts help street outreach workers reach those at most immediate risk of  gunshot injury?;
2. Does this targeted network strategy reduce community levels of gun violence?

The SOAR project will help develop best practices for the fair and transparent integration of data into violence intervention work.
