Research & Evaluation of Communities Partnering 4 Peace
N3 is the research partner for Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P), a coalition of Chicago street outreach organizations convened by Metropolitan Family Services that is working to reduce gun violence in Chicago. The CP4P effort began in 2017 when eight outreach organizations in Chicago joined together to create a comprehensive, long-term intervention to combat gun violence and gang activity.

The CP4P effort began in 2017 when eight outreach organizations in Chicago joined together to create a comprehensive, long-term intervention to combat gun violence and gang activity.
The evaluation focuses on examining the impact of the program on the lives of program participants and levels of gun violence in the Chicago neighborhoods serviced by CP4P. Using a quasi-experimental research design, N3 seeks to answer the following key questions:
1. Does the behavior of participants involved in CP4P street outreach change?
2. Are CP4P participants engaged in less gun violence or related activities, do they report feeling safer and healthier, and do they report other positive outcomes?; and
3. Do the levels of gun violence in the neighborhoods serviced by CP4P change?
N3 is also conducting a qualitative study - including interviews and focus groups - to better understand the experiences of program participants and why certain program features were more or less successful.
N3’s engaged research approach ensures that the evaluation reflects the perspective of those most impacted by gun violence.
