James Mitchell

James Mitchell is a native of Chicago and the Austin neighborhood. His introduction to the CVI field was as a Peacekeeper with the FLIP Strategy in 2019. Since then he has been promoted to FLIP Supervisor and Outreach Worker with the Institute for Nonviolence Chicago (INVC) on the West Side. He is now the Outreach Supervisor in Austin for INVC. James sits on the board of the Trauma Recovery Council at INVC and is a passionate advocate for the mental health and healing of outreach professionals.

Featured Projects

Currently, our research focuses primarily on gun violence prevention and community violence intervention (CVI), policing practices, and public safety, and we are expanding into other areas that effect neighborhood health and well-being.
